Tombo Dojo

Tombo Dojo is a Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu school located in Worthington, Ohio. We train in the methods of nine classical Japanese martial traditions as transmitted through Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. Training emphasizes natural movement, tactical adaptability, and the development of fudoshin (immovable heart).

We teach unarmed techniques (taijutsu), weapons (sword, staff, shuriken, weighted chain, and others), and the principles that connect them. We focus on adaptability over rigid forms, developing responses that work under pressure.

Classes are taught by Justin Root and John Phillips, both licensed Bujinkan instructors.

Prospective students are requested to observe a class first (by appointment). This lets you see our approach and ask questions, and it lets us ensure the training environment stays safe and focused for everyone. If it's a good fit, your first two classes on the mat are free.
